Update March 2020
We have closed the Sports Injury Diagnosis clinic at London Bridge Hospital following the government guidelines during the COVID-19 outbreak https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/coronavirus-covid-19-list-of-guidance
The health and safety of our patients is of our greatest importance, and during the current circumstances we want to reduce the risk to our staff and patients and their families by suspending physical appointments whilst social distancing measures are in place. We anticipate to be back to work by early June.
Wishing you all the best of health,
Dr Stephen Motto

Our Services
At the Sports Injury Diagnosis Clinic, patients can rest assured that they have access to state of the art treatments, delivered by expert staff in an atmosphere of personal care.
The most important first step when treating an athletic injury is to properly diagnose it. The experts at the Clinic have vast experience with a wide array of sports injuries and it is more than likely that they have come across an injury like yours. This expertise, along with the high-specification diagnostic tools we use, allows for accurate diagnosis – the foundation for your successful recovery.
The treatment methods we employ are cutting edge. For example our founder, Dr Motto, is a leading expert in Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT). ESWT has proven highly effective in treatment of chronic tendinopathies. Typically this treatment takes under a half hour to complete and many patients experience benefits within just one week.
Here at the Clinic, we don’t believe in one-size-fits-all approaches. Every patient is unique, and so right from your initial consultation we will take the time to get a detailed picture of your athletic history and the problems you are now facing. We welcome and encourage follow up visits from our patients in order to make sure that all phases of rehabilitation are progressing smoothly.
Many top professional athletes have put their livelihoods in the hands of our staff — now you can avail yourself of the same high level of treatment at the Sports Injury Diagnosis Clinic.

Autumn Update 2018
Shockwave therapy (ESWT)
for longstanding heel pain
The Sports Injury Diagnosis clinic is now offering Shockwave Therapy direct, without the need for referral.
Chronic heel pain, due to either Plantar Fasciitis or Achilles tendinitis, responds particularly well to this therapy (More information is available here Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy)
I am aware that many patients don’t have access to focal medium/high energy shockwave therapy to treat their intractable chronic tendon pain. Many of the devices, used by specialists and physiotherapists, are radial or ‘unfocussed’ shockwave devices and may not be as effective as the focal shockwave used at Sports Injury Diagnosis. We often see improvements after two treatments, whereas 5/6 treatments or more are required when using radial devices.
If you have longstanding heel pain due to Plantar fasciitis or Achilles tendinitis (a year or more) , and your doctor has tried various treatments without much success, please consider focal shockwave therapy. Around 80% of our patients experience significant pain relief long term.
The treatment is administered every week or two, with pain often much reduced or gone 4-6 weeks after the course of three treatments.
The cost for the consultation and three sessions of treatment is normally £1150 for one treatment area (self pay), however we are now offering a package of three treatments for £950 for a single area affected.
(Treatment is also available for those covered by private medical insurance, but please check if your insurance company will authorise. A referral may be needed and pre-authorisation will be required in advance)
